Our Process

At Benona Chocolates, we are dedicated to sourcing our ingredients with care and consideration. We prioritize the use of local and sustainable ingredients whenever possible, supporting our local communities and reducing our environmental impact. It's important to us that our ingredients are sourced ethically and we also value independent suppliers, seeking out partnerships with smaller producers who share our commitment to quality and craftsmanship. By prioritizing local, sustainable, ethical, and independent sourcing, we aim to create delicious chocolates that our customers can feel good about enjoying.

Here are some examples of the how we source our ingredients and some of the products that we use.

  • Sustainable

When creating our bonbons, Benona Chocolates collaborates with a diverse range of suppliers to ensure a meticulous blend of flavour profiles. Prioritizing sustainability and ethics, we research each supplier to verify that the cocoa is cultivated in a responsible manner.

  • Ethical

Each brand of couverture chocolate that we use is produced ethically, using Rainforest Alliance certified cocoa, thus empowering cocoa farmers and women in the supply chain, from picking the pods to the final stages of chocolate creation. The Rainforest Alliance seal also ensures any products that display this are using processes that support social, economic and environmental sustainability.

  • Local

Derby Hill Farm has been a working Lancashire farm since 1850 and has been in the Bradley family for five generations. The use their delicious double cream to produce a rich, smooth butter which is then hand patted in the traditional way using wooden paddles.

  • Independent
